The Badoo Project Comes to NYC
Like many bloggers, I get a lot of emails asking me to check out new sites, pitch products, come to events and write about them. I don’t have time to even reply to most of it, much less play along.
Plus, you know, if I actually wrote about all of the things these folks wanted me to write about, no one would read my blog. That’s just not the kind of shop I run. But every once and a while I get a pitch that really interests me for a brand/event that seems cool.
Like Badoo and The Badoo Project. Badoo is the world’s largest social network for meeting new people.* And next week on March 22-‐24 (Thursday through Saturday) they’re looking for 1000 New Yorkers to be a part of the largest photoshoot that the city has ever seen. Very Cool.
Here’s the deets – 4 of America’s hottest fashion photographers (Danielle Levitt, Kenneth Cappello, Dan Martensen and Brooke Nipar) will undertake the ambitious task of capturing the portraits of 1,000 New Yorkers, to be used as their ultimate online profile picture.
YES, you get to keep your awesome new pic! We all know how important having a great online dating profile picture is. Let’s face it, it’s pretty much the most important part of your profile, whether you’re doing traditional online dating or just using social networking sites to flirt.
Interested? You should be! Register at www.badoo.com/theproject.
PS, yes I’ll be there. No, I will not be posting my pic here.
*Yeah, I’ve closed out all of my traditional online dating accounts. I’m so over that for now. When the folks from Badoo reached out to me I checked out their site and was really impressed by how NOT like online dating it is. I like the simple interface and, well, the simplicity of the whole thing.

That sounds really good but too bad i am in florida
I totally agree with you.
A ton of times people will fill out a form to join a dating website but will not upload a picture. The chances of anyone being interested without seeing a picture is highly unlikely. It’s a shame to go through all thattime and trouble for nothing, but I think a lot of times a person won’t upload a picture because they don’t have one they like. I wish they had a Badoo type deal everywhere.
I would def agree that having at least one good online photo on your profile really helps. I’ve always heard it’s good to have at least one face shot and one body shot. The Badoo Project sounds awesome!
