A Little Extra Happy in My Life

Some (ok..MANY) of my recent blog posts have been on the dark side. Full of sadness and frustration. Today is all about the happy.

Tuesday I started to feel much, much better. And then Wednesday, I had the most beautiful bouquet of flowers delivered to my apartment by And that instantly put a smile on my face.

With everything that’s been going on, I’d forgotten all about them. The flowers.

You see, they weren’t a surprise. I was the one who ordered them and picked them out. For myself. Because, dammit, I deserve flowers. And not the crappy kind you can pick up at the corner bodega.  Note: To my non-NY readers – You can buy flowers at many corner markets aka bodegas aka Korean Delis depending on the ethnicity of the owners. And some of these flowers might even seem pretty. For about a day. And then they whither and die.

So about my gorgeous bouquet…

This is a picture I took myself (you can tell because it’s kinda blurry and off center) of my flowers on day 2. Aren’t they FABULOUS! They’ve brightened up my whole apartment and make me smile every time I look at them.

I now understand why some people always have fresh flowers in their homes and offices. They’re inspiring.

Anyway, this post is about my flowers but it’s also about and their subscription flower delivery service. Here’s how it works – You get gorgeous yet affordable flowers delivered to you (or someone you love) every week, every other week or each month starting at just $29/delivery. PLUS, you get a complimentary vase with your first order and delivery is always free. There’s no membership fee, no minimum commitment and you can cancel any time. Now that’s what I call an awesome deal.

One of the very cool things about the service is how they let you choose your own flower collection. So you can go onto the site and pick out which flowers you like and get creative. Seriously, what’s not to love?  I’m hooked.

  1. A lot of people swear by this self-affirmation approach to life — such as sending yourself flowers. So maybe it’s something I ought to try…

  2. Small things such as giving yourself flowers really can serve to brighten up one’s day. I am surprised more people don’t send themselves flowers. After all flowers are beautiful and really can make one’s life better. This is a cool idea.

I am a flower addict. I start with impatiens in the spring, go to pansies in the winter and ALWAYS go overboard with poinsettias during the holidays. Winter freeze? That’s just Nature’s way of saying it’s time to restock. One of the most inexpensive pleasures you can give yourself, I say.
