Real stories about dating and relationships in New York City. Truth is more interesting than fiction.

This Is Reality

So I have jury duty this week.  I’ve postponed it a number of times and so this time it was non-negotiable.  I’m not complaining though. They have strong, reliable wifi and a/c and so what’s there to complain about?

So here’s a funny jury duty story:  I kinda got dressed up yesterday morning.  Not super-dressed up.  But I wore a cute dress and make-up and all that shit.  And it was hot as hell yesterday.  Make-up on a hot Monday morning in August.  So unlike me, honestly.  But I did it because I thought, “gee, maybe there will be a cute there”.

There wasn’t.  Not that I could see, anyway.

But that’s not the funny part.

The funny part is that no fewer than 3 women I know (IRL and on Twitter) asked me if I met a guy at jury duty.  Because, you know, we all have bought into this idea that life is like a romantic comedy.  And finds you when you least expect it.  And that the man of our dreams is waiting for us at jury duty. For the record, I’m not wearing any make-up today.

I just got out of Jury Duty recently (the trial was expected to last a month and I couldn’t afford to be off work for such a long time) and the thought definitely crossed my mind that there may be a cute guy there. I love meeting someone in unusual circumstances. Then there’s always the thrill of having sex with a fellow jury member in the court room washroom….

Just wear some yoga clothes like the guy mentioned in your Guy’s Story on Sunday! lol 😉

Get there a little early and put a little make up on in the bathroom at the courthouse?

You never know who you might bump into in the entrance??

Just pray your dream guy isn’t on the stand.

I am always looking. My light is always on (I’ve heard that metaphor somewhere). But honestly, it’s been a long time since I met someone in an unusual place. How about you?
OMG, why didn’t I think of that?
:-) I’m kinda comfortable with not wearing make-up. At this point in my life I’m ok with the way I look. But I do wear it to look “nicer”.
It’s true. You never know. And I’m always open. Just not overly hopeful. I don’t know if that makes sense.
LOL. Now THAT would be funny.
