Ours Is Not To Reason Why

I think I have a pretty healthy attitude about .  I try not to take it too seriously.  Try not to spend much time wondering why certain men write and others don’t.  As I wrote long ago, in Survival – Lesson #1, I really don’t think that stuff has much to do with me. When I find myself pondering the why, I try to squelch it.

But this week served me a up a giant WHY.

Last Wednesday night I was all stressed out because I was having second thoughts about my date for that night.  I’d previously been looking forward to meeting this guy.  Really looking forward to it.  And then in the days leading up to the date he sent me a few emails that really put me off.

Then, just as I was thinking about maybe cancelling on him he called and said he needed to reschedule.  He was very apologetic.  Said he had car trouble.  He was so sweet and winning on the phone I was rethinking my assessment of him as a potential ass.

Well that was a week ago.  I haven’t heard from him since.  He never called or wrote to reschedule.  Sure, the car trouble could have been a polite let down.  Maybe he was having second thoughts about me at the same time that I was having second thoughts about him.  Perhaps he didn’t like the way I responded to his pervy/aggressive emails.  Whatever.

I just think it’s funny.  This is a person who two weeks ago I was completely looking forward to meeting.  And now he’s just in the email trash bin.  Ah, online dating. Such a curious little world.

More often than not, car trouble = mind trouble.
Conveniently placed and well-executed car trouble at that :)

I don’t doubt that you’re right. People are so funny/odd. This is a guy who came on SO strong :-)

Ha…car trouble…give me a break. Such a lame excuse if there is no attempt to reschedule. I don’t blame you for trashing his emails. Your mind isn’t tricking you.

I’ve often found if I’m having second thoughts about a guy I’ve met online, there is a good reason as to why. I either find that out when I’ve been stood-up or on the date thinking, “What in heaven’s name have I gotten myself into?”

Curious is certainly one word for it…hehe. Sounds like there was some kind of weird mutual vibe being sent out.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet.
