Real stories about dating and relationships in New York City. Truth is more interesting than fiction.

Little Black Dress and a Smile

I have a closet full of little black dresses.  I’m not exaggerating.  I love getting dressed up, even if it’s only for a drink.  Heck, especially when it’s only for a drink.  I love the fact that I live in a city where there are so many fabulous places a girl can put on a little black dress and go out for a civilized drink.

New York being New York, these come in all shapes and sizes (the bars and the dresses).  Some of the bars have been there for decades and are sure to be there for years to come.  Some are brand smackin’ new and fabulously .  My tastes are a bit random.  I like what I like.

One of my favorite bars for dates and little black dresses is Pegu Club.  It was pretty popular when it first opened a couple of years ago but is somewhat less popular now.  It’s a classic cocktail (I’m not a cosmo girl) down on W Houston and the drinks are always perfect.  The itself is spacious and subtle and never loud, perfect for conversation.  I kind of like the fact that it’s waning in popularity and so quieter and more mellow than some of the other downtown cocktail temples.  I don’t care about the scene or being seen.  I care more about the conversation I’m having with my date, and it’s easier to have a good conversation at Pegu than at the trendy spot du jour.

I think that’s awesome. I’m afraid I own not one – ONE – little black dress. But maybe someday! To celebrate something. Maybe even just myself

Cool. I love LBDs. Just perfect for all occasions.

I LOVE the way you merge restaurants to clothes. Each has its own unique characteristic and charm. This is a great angle and one that could rally be explored more. I think it would be great to talk about why you picked the outfit you did for the event and how it meshed with the surrounding dinner or adult beverage place of choice. Well done!

Thanks. To be honest, I’m not sure how much I’ll be going into my fashion choices. While I think a lot about what I wear, I don’t really think of myself as “one of those girls”. You know, the type who spends a lot of time talking about clothes. I guess it’s because so many of my friends are guys.
